Our Mission: The Midwife Center is to promote wellness by providing exceptional, client-centered primary gynecological, pregnancy and birthing care in southwestern Pennsylvania’s only independent birth center.

Job Description: The Community Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing the mission of The Midwife Center by strengthening partnerships and increasing visibility through advocacy and education, community collaboration, social media, and volunteer and client engagement and outreach. The ideal candidate will be energetic, creative, highly organized, and able to work independently, as well as passionate about The Midwife Center’s mission. Qualified applicants should be able to work on site at TMC and also committed to working in diverse environments and available to work some weekends and early evenings. The position is grant-funded.

Position Type: Full-Time (1.0 FTE)

Duties & Responsibilities:

Outreach

  • Implement The Midwife Center’s community engagement plan in collaboration with the Executive Director, Development Coordinator, and Board Program Committee.
  • Coordinate and plan education events and mentoring opportunities.
  • Organize, set-up, and coordinate The Midwife Center's presence at meetings, health fairs, and other community events.

Community Building

  • Cultivate community partnerships across diverse communities, especially communities that experience poor health outcomes, for client resource referral.
  • Collaborate with TMC’s Community Health Worker on connecting TMC clients to community resources.
  • Represent The Midwife Center in coalition and other efforts related to TMC’s mission.

Public Relations - Work as a part of the communication team to:

  • Assist with developing promotional materials for TMC marketing for community outreach and social media efforts.
  • Develop, implement, and manage social media to engage and grow TMC’s audience and attract new clients.
  • Recruit and manage volunteers to support community engagement efforts events (including TMC’s annual fundraising event), and other TMC activities.
  • Provide back-up and support development activities including events and donor data management.

Project Evaluation

  • Track outreach activities and outcomes for program evaluation efforts.
  • Manage client satisfaction surveys and evaluation efforts.

Other

  • Provide weekly reports of activities to direct supervisor.
  • Provide support to the front office team.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Experience & Education Requirements:
  • Some post high school education
  • A minimum of two years relevant experience such as community and event organizing, volunteer management, health-related work experience.
  • Experience representing an organization via social media and in the community
  • Ability to obtain ACT 33 & 34 clearance.
Salary and Benefits:
  • Salary: $49,000.00 per year. This position is grant-funded
