Development & Communications Associate

The mission of The Midwife Center is to promote wellness by providing exceptional, client-centered primary gynecological, pregnancy and birthing care in southwestern Pennsylvania’s only independent birth center.

Hours:

.75 to 1 FTE. Schedule may be flexible, with occasional evening and weekend hours

Compensation:

Function: 

In partnership with the Executive Director and the Board Fundraising Committee, the Development & Communications Associate is responsible for coordinating development and development-related communication activities of The Midwife Center. This role will implement resource-effective ideas and solutions that advance The Midwife Center’s mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Director with implementing The Midwife Center’s Development & Communications Plan       
  • Assist the Executive Director with development activities including sponsorship solicitation, donor cultivation, special events, and development-related communications such as event collateral and the annual report      
  • Manage fundraising database (Salsa) including running reports       
  • Maintain accurate, timely processing of donations and mail in accordance with established requirements and standards and track all fundraising goals and campaigns      
  • Coordinate annual fundraising campaigns and workplace giving programs such as the United Way Contributor Choice program and other employer and matching programs       
  • Coordinate volunteers for fundraising, events, or communication needs on an as-needed basis 
  • Create communications collateral, including electronic newsletter, brochures, and maintain TMC’s website in accordance with TMC branding and other guidelines      
  • Collaborate with the Community Engagement Coordinator to develop and implement editorial calendar and for digital communication

Qualifications:  

Required:

  • Demonstrated dedication to reproductive health
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion  
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and organization
  • Experience with database management, including tracking fundraising trends and campaigns
  • Experience planning and coordinating special events
  • Ability to think creatively and to work collaboratively with diverse teams  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, G Suite        
  • Can obtain ACT 33 and 34 clearances as required by the Department of Health  

Preferred:       

  • Bachelor’s Degree  
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising or related experience       
  • Experience using a nonprofit CRM database and online fundraising and communications tools    
  • Experience with organizing and planning events, both in person and digital        
  • Experience with website, social media, newsletter production, and message development       
  • Experience with producing a variety of communications like brochures, annual reports, appeals, advertisements
