Kara has worked at The Midwife Center since 2004. She spent five years working as a birth assistant RN. During that time, she also cared for clients during the With Woman Fridays walk-in program and developed the breastfeeding follow-up program (now called Postpartum Phone Counseling). She also started a Cesarean Awareness and VBAC support group that operated out of TMC for a number of years. After graduating from Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing, she joined the practice as a CNM in 2009. Her previous nursing experience was in cardiology.

Kara believes that when women are healthy and birth is normal, the safest place to deliver is in a birthing center. She feels privileged to work with nurses, midwives and staff who are dedicated to serving women and their families. Kara has lived in Pittsburgh most of her life, and resides with husband Dave and four children, Jack, Emma, Denny and Netta.
