Leigh McGowan

Leigh grew up in Wexford, PA. She originally graduated from Lehigh University with a degree in Biochemistry.  After college, Leigh worked as a clinical research coordinator at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.  This experience exposed her to the role of the nurse and encouraged her to become a nurse practitioner. She then went on to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania's accelerated BSN/MSN program as a Family Nurse Practitioner. After graduation, she completed a year-long fellowship in Internal Medicine with Carolinas HealthCare System. She has since worked in Primary Care and as a Hospitalist before joining TMC in 2019.

Leigh originally found out about TMC when she came to an open house with a friend of hers who was on the Board.  She said she was instantly drawn to the peaceful environment and individualized care that TMC provides.  Leigh is as passionate about preventing disease and promoting health by empowering patients - "something I get to do at TMC every day!"  Her free time is spent with her husband, son, and cat. She also enjoys travel, hiking, and live music.
