The Midwife Center for Birth and Women’s Health of Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a new graduate CNM to join our practice for up to a one-year fellowship.
The mission of The Midwife Center (TMC) is to provide exceptional person-centered pregnancy, birth, and gynecological care in southwestern Pennsylvania’s only independent, non-profit birth center.
TMC has a 38-year history of providing birthing options for families in the Pittsburgh region. TMC’s clientele is diverse and passionate about midwifery care. In 2017, TMC completed a 3.9-million-dollar expansion to offer water birth, nitrous oxide, behavioral health services, and phlebotomy. TMC is committed to anti-racism work and serving communities impacted by racism and health inequities.
In addition to pregnancy and birthing care, TMC has a large gynecological practice. TMC also has exceptional relationships with the major hospital systems and in-hospital providers in the area. These relationships enhance the quality of the community-based care provided at TMC. We are seeking a new graduate midwife with excellent beginner-level clinical skills who is responsible, flexible, and has a strong desire to learn the art of out of hospital birth. Functional Spanish would be a plus.
The goal of the fellowship is to provide a gentle entry into the profession of midwifery and out of hospital birth. TMC works to accomplish this by mentoring the fellow with an extended orientation (approximately 4 months) and outside educational opportunities. TMC’s practice of 8 midwives and 2 WHNPs is excited for another opportunity to guide a fellow through the nuances of new midwifery practice by lending support. We are excited that this will be our 17th fellow since the program’s inception.
In addition to a salary, this position includes dollar-to-dollar retirement matching, cell phone reimbursement, and a signing/moving bonus with an additional bonus upon completion of the fellowship. We offer excellent benefits including two weeks paid vacation, paid continuing education time, health and dental insurance, short and long-term disability insurance, and occurrence malpractice insurance. Previous fellows have successfully qualified for deference for student loans.
