The Midwife Center for Birth & Women’s Health of Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a new graduate CNM to join our practice for up to a one-year fellowship.

The mission of The Midwife Center (TMC) is to provide exceptional woman-centered pregnancy, birth, and well-woman care in southwestern Pennsylvania’s only independent, non-profit birth center.

TMC has a 36-year history of providing birthing options for families in the Pittsburgh region. Our clientele is diverse and passionate about midwifery care and we are experiencing a great increase in demand for our services. In 2017, we completed a 3.9 million dollar expansion to offer water birth, nitrous oxide, behavioral health services, phlebotomy and outreach to communities experiencing poor health outcomes.

In addition to pregnancy and birthing care, the practice includes a large well-woman practice and a walk-in program. TMC also provides in-hospital OB care with independent admitting privileges.
We are seeking a new graduate midwife with excellent beginner-level clinical skills who is responsible, flexible, and has a strong desire to learn the art of out of hospital birth. Functional Spanish would be a plus.

The goal of the fellowship is to provide a gentle entry into the profession of midwifery and out of hospital birth. We will accomplish this by mentoring the fellow with an extended orientation (approximately 4 months) and outside educational opportunities. Our practice of 7 midwives and 1 WHNP is excited for another opportunity to guide a fellow through the challenges of new midwifery practice by lending support in many different ways.

This position includes dollar-to-dollar up to 4% retirement matching, cell phone reimbursement and a monthly stipend with a significant bonus upon completion of the fellowship. We offer excellent benefits including two weeks paid vacation, paid continuing education time, health insurance, dental insurance, short and long-term disability insurance, and occurrence malpractice insurance. Previous fellows have successfully qualified for deference for student loans. The schedule includes approximately one office day and 48 hours first call per week and second call.
