Position Title: Nurse Practitioner
Reports To: Lead Nurse Practitioner
FLSA Status: Part-Time (0.5 FTE) Exempt

Position Summary: The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides outpatient clinical visits in accordance with licensure and education. The NP supports The Midwife Center’s mission to promote wellness by providing exceptional, client-centered primary gynecological, pregnancy, and birthing care in southwestern Pennsylvania’s only independent birth center.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- -Clinical Care: Manages primary gynecological care, antepartum, postpartum and newborn care, according to established birth center protocols.
- -Professional Development: Assumes responsibility for own professional development by attending mandatory in-services, participating in continuing education programs, and establishing annual goals with the Lead Nurse Practitioner.
- -Administration & Billing: Completes billing encounter forms, Adagio forms, and other necessary paperwork required for billing and evaluation purposes.
- -Quality Assurance: Performs quality assurance tasks as assigned by the clinical leadership, including but not limited to overseeing the follow-up on abnormal pap smears and reportable infections.
- -Strategic Contribution: Contributes to strategic planning and the development of clinical protocols for the birth center.
- -Meetings: Attends regular staff meetings and quality assurance (QA) meetings.
- -Education: Participates in educational programs for midwives, student nurse-midwives, nursing students, resident physicians, medical students, and other allied health professionals.
- -Organizational Support: Participates in public relations/speaking engagements and contributes to the recruitment, hiring, and orientation of staff.
- -Administrative Support: Completes administrative tasks as directed by clinical leadership.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- -Licensure: Current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) licenses; National Certification.
- -Experience: Two years of clinical experience as a nurse practitioner or nurse-midwife preferred.
- -Preferences: Experience serving diverse populations (insured and uninsured) and family planning experience preferred. Functional Spanish is a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- -Schedule: 0.5 FTE (approx. 20 hours per week). Includes daylight and evening hours; no call shifts.

- -Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods. Ability to perform medium work—exerting up to 20–30 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs frequently.
- -Interactions: Frequent interaction with Certified Nurse-Midwives, Client Service Associates, Client Service Managers, and Medical Assistants.
