Upcoming classes at The Midwife Center

We’re excited to let you know about some great classes coming up at The Midwife Center!

The Fourth Trimester

If you’ve recently given birth, this evidence-based class is designed for you. Regain confidence in your movement and body to bridge the gap between childbirth and return to work, fitness, and parenting.

Participants will receive a movement, muscle, and joint screen by a Doctor of Physical Therapy specializing in the pregnant and postpartum woman and will complete four weekly group-based classes designed to help them re-connect with their breath, abdominal muscles, and pelvic floor.

This four-part class will be held on Wednesday mornings in March.

Optimizing Labor & Delivery: Preparation, Positioning, and Postpartum

Are you currently pregnant? This evidence-based course is designed to prepare you and your birth partner with techniques to encourage a natural, efficient, and musculoskeletally-sound birth.

In this class, you’ll learn about the labor and delivery process as well as how movement and positioning throughout the stages of labor will facilitate fetal movement through the pelvis, both medicated and unmedicated. You’ll learn preparation for delivery to limit pelvic and vaginal trauma, as well as postpartum care including scar massage, breastfeeding positioning, and c-section rehabilitation.

This class will be held on 2/20 and 3/20.

HypnoBirthing February/March 2019

The HypnoBirthing® Childbirth method is as much a philosophy of birth as it is a technique for achieving a satisfying, relaxing, and stress-free method of birthing.

This method of preparing for childbirth uses breathing techniques, visualizations, and deep relaxation techniques, so that throughout labor and delivery a person can be in a state of deep relaxation, yet completely awake and alert. Being deeply relaxed can help decrease tension and pain, and increase the likelihood of a safe, easier, more comfortable birth. You’ll learn the basics of childbearing, and much more.

This five-part class will be held on 2/22, 3/1, 3/8, 3/15, and 3/22
